Where We Source Our Garments
At Mermaid Couture, every garment begins with intention.
We partner with small, trusted makers who honour ethical practices, fair working conditions and the slow fashion values at the heart of our brand. Many of our pieces are crafted by artisans from family‑run businesses, where skills are passed down through generations and each garment carries the quiet beauty of human hands.
We source a combination of natural materials wherever possible, including soft Peruvian cotton known for its breathability, durability and gentle feel against the skin. Choosing natural fibres allows us to create garments that feel luxurious while supporting responsible farming and reduced environmental impact.
Our production partners prioritise low‑impact processes, and we continually work to ensure a reduced carbon footprint across our supply chain. From mindful material selection to small‑batch production, every step is designed to support a more conscious future for fashion.
Our Handmade range is sourced from a reputable family business in India and are not only handmade, but we usually can only manage to secure one of each design, making them even more special.
Our beach cover ups and dresses are a combination of designed and made here in Sydney and imported from Peru. Again, we are proud to work with both companies as they have incredible ethical standards and only create small batches.
Once each garment arrives in our studio, it is carefully steamed, quality‑checked and prepared for posting with the same attention we give to our creative process. We want every piece to feel special from the moment you open it.
Mermaid Couture is built on thoughtful sourcing, ethical craftsmanship and a deep love for coastal beauty. When you wear our garments, you support makers who craft with care and a brand that believes fashion should feel meaningful.
